first_imgDonegal stars Michael Murphy and Neil Gallagher have confirmed they are to open a sports shop in Letterkenny this Friday. It comes just a couple of weeks before the two men from Glenswilly take on Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park. But the pair say that while their venture into the business world is exciting, all their efforts will first be put into overthrowing the Dubs at GAA headquarters. Donegal captain Murphy, 25, said he simply couldn’t allow the opportunity of opening up his own sports shop to pass him by.“Running a sports shop is something that I always had in the back of my mind, so when this opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t let it pass.“I asked Neil Gallagher to come on board as a director of the company, as I’ve known him for many years and he’s the first person I thought of when the opportunity arose.“While it’s good to be up and running, our primary focus for the moment is the All Ireland Semi Final, so we’re concentrating all of our energy and attention on that.’ And Michael’s close friend and club-mate, Neil Gallagher says the pair have already spent so much time in sports-shops buying sportgear that it’s a natural move to have one of their own!“It’s a natural fit for us and we’ve created the kind of sports’ store that we would love to shop in ourselves, focusing on excellent products, quality service and expert advice.“We’ve been planning this project for a while and have a great team in place, which means we’re free to concentrate on our training and preparation for the next game. That’s the most important thing for us at the minute.”The state-of-the-art store offers a wide range of leading brands across almost 7,000 sq feet of retail space.
